I traveled back to the homeland for a week of family and friends. Fly rod and tenkara in tote, my dad and I met up with the Winona Fly Factory (winonaflyfactory.com) fisherman and we explored some of what the Driftless area has to offer for trout fishing. The tenkara rod ended up being a great option for my dad, someone who is pretty new to fly fishing. He took to it well. It was a long time on the water, but we had a great weekend fishing, finding morel mushrooms, and hanging out at the barn.
Enjoy,

So cool...You don't realize how much you miss a place until you've been away from it for a while. I'm missing the driftless and hope to get back this summer.
ReplyDeleteGreat video, and thanks for the reminder of what a special place that is.
I agree. I hope you get back there. Thanks for stopping by :)
DeleteSweet times. The Tom Turkey stole the show. :)
ReplyDeleteloud and proud, those toms :) the other guys at the barn, my brother included, were turkey hunting that weekend, but the birds were shy and allusive.

ReplyDeleteGreat video, professional done---I like the fact you are using Vimeo, instead of UTube. With Utube I have trouble getting the video to full screen. With Vimeo you have that option and it gives all videos a more professtional look, not to mention full screen on the computer. Those were some nice browns. Thank for sharing
glad you enjoyed it and thanks for the compliments. I think the biggest thing I notice about a quality looking video is steady camerawork. With small cameras like phones and gopros, it is hard to do, but I'm working at it. Thanks again for your kind words :)
DeleteGreat video...can't say enough great things about it...I agree w/ Bill, very professional.
ReplyDeleteThanks Devin :) I enjoyed visiting your site as well. I'll be back for sure.
DeleteVery sweet. I have to thank you and Trout Magee for putting the Driftless firmly on my to-do list. Love the morel parting shot, I'm going to go find some for dinner tomorrow night.
ReplyDeleteIt is awe awesome spot and the main stream we fished just blew me away. I couldn't believe how much quality water there was and I didn't even get to it all :) Magee does some awesome photography and really does the driftless justice. Good luck finding the shrooms. That guy was a random lonley mushroom about 30 feet form a dead elm. We found a few more though. They are amazing.
DeleteNicely done. I love those underwater shots of the fish booking it back to safety :) Great looking water as well. Looking forward to more. Thanks for sharing. Tight LInes.
ReplyDeletethanks man :) I know you know the driftless well. Some beatuful water, for sure.
