New Video: The Rapidan BBQ Rendezvous

Spring is now officially here, but I think it arrived in the northern hemisphere sometime in January. The brookies were taking dries on the Rapidan River in Shenandoah National Park in Virginia. It just took me a while to land a fish. I'm still getting used to the tenkara rod and still getting familiar with the Virginia trout waters. I can feel the pieces are starting to come together.

Available in HD. Just click the button or go to vimeo.com.

Enjoy the music. The Tallest Man on Earth: "You're Going Back."

  1. Great vid! That actually was a great edited, good quality video.

That second brookie is really nice. That's impressive, that stream gets quite a bit of pressure.

    1. its access to "the big city" and the fact that you can drive up to it I'm sure has an effect. Gorgeous water though, and you are right, that second trout was phenomenal. My camera battery actually died right then so I couldn't get more shots, but you can get a sense of its beauty even while it is in the net.

    1. Hey Steve,

I use a gopro hd for a lot of the fishing shots. For the filler shots (bugs, moss, restaurants) I use my phone camera (iphone 4). It is an awesome camera but the stability can be an issue. I also carry a tripod now for different shots with the gopro. I can use the tripod as a boom and reach tricky shots with it as well. I find the head mount is really wobbly on my head for some reason... So I haven't used that recently. Maybe when I do some more saltwater I'll bring it back out.

    1. Thanks Bill. That was my second time in the park. I'm looking to go again soon. It is pretty awesome. I'd like to find a good day hike to take my wife on. Know of any?
